Welcome to Sheffield Dancesport Society
Sheffield Dancesport Society exists to teach Ballroom and Latin American Dancing to students at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. We take current students from these Universities, and ex-students from all Universities in the UK.
Unlike many other university teams, we cater for both competitive and casual dancers, holding classes up to three times a week. We encourage anybody to dance in the team, where they can extend and improve their dancing skills over and above the skills we teach in our social sessions.
Each February, we host the Sheffield Social dance competition. This is the largest dance competition of the year, other than the nationals. It is held in the Octagon Centre on the main Sheffield University campus.
During the year, the Society also provides demonstrations at functions such as balls and public events, and private teaching sessions for student groups that need to learn a dance routine for any reason. We also volunteer in the local community.
So 'like' us on Facebook, check out the videos on our Youtube channel, browse the website for more information, or drop us an email if you are interested in joining us!
